In mid-December 2017, the very first Full Circle Fund Therapies festive carol concert took place at St Anne's Church Wandsworth.
With an audience befitting of such an occasion, guests were treated to the most beautiful musical programme compiled and directed by Dominic Brennan of The Cantus Ensemble, one of London's leading chamber choirs. Mulled wine, spiced cider and mince pies set the scene for a truly atmospheric start to proceedings in darkness with each guest's candle lit by choir members, followed by a stirring candlelit choral procession to Eric Whitacre's Lux Aurumque.
What followed was truly magnificent. Three sections, each rich and descriptive in their style, with a central masterpiece of Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols accompanied by a mesmerising harpist.
We heard from a young former patient, in her own words, as to the impact the charity's work had had on her journey alongside medical intervention and through to recovery. Actress and former patient Maddy Harland delivered a humorous take on The Twelve Days of Christmas. They are wonderful ambassadors of the charity and determined to raise awareness and make a difference for others. Former Mayor of Wandsworth and now Patron of Full Circle Fund Therapies Richard Field added his own, thoughtful tone to an extract from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
The final section was wonderfully uplifting and a rousing congregational finale of We Three Kings made for a super end to a truly enjoyable and memorable evening. It was fabulous to see so many loyal supporters old and new join with us for such a special occasion, the first in what we aim to be an annual event.
Do join us again next year to share the spirit of the festive season!
