Celebrating 9 years of support for Full Circle, this year’s SWRC Mayflyer continues to be a brilliant day out for hundreds of super fit cyclists. The event was blessed with fine weather which welcomed for the first time, many international riders including from Italy, United States, Canada, France, Ireland and South America as well as of course, many from across Britain. Word is definitely spreading about this sportive, and for good reason. The well stocked feedstations as ever were a welcome highlight for riders, with generously donated cakes from The French Tarte in Surbiton, The Cobham Bakery along with hundreds of free coffees kindly donated by Starbucks in Weybridge. At the finish, our brilliant Gabby – Full Circle lead at Brighton Hospital, had assembled a crack team of Sports Massage therapists who offered free sports massage to many riders at the finish. Thank you Gabby, Rachel, Julie, Michael and Sarah.
A brilliant day out by all accounts. In the words of one rider: “this is the best sportive I’ve ever done in the UK or Europe.” Huge thanks to everyone behind the scenes, in front of the scenes, from those at the start at 6am to those at the finish, to those who marked up hundreds of miles of routes in between, and to those at every junction, to Lawrie and Edel, to the Full Circle team at Ellen’s Green – Claire, Martin, Nina, Chantal, Geoff and Suzie, to the organiser Rob Imrie – you’re all stars and made it a great day for everyone who was lucky enough to take part. We hope to see you next year – watch this space or www.swrc.org.uk – provisional date is Sunday 10th May 2020!
